Since its beginnings in Scandinavia as a means of transportation, skiing has developed into a popular sports activity that has many styles. One style called telemark skiing was popularized by Sondre Norheim in the nineteenth-century. During the twentieth-century, in response to telemark skiing's popularity, many Volkl mountain skis began to be made specifically for this type of skiing.

Innovation is a quality that has prompted Volkl mountain skis to popular use. Like other telemark skis, Volkl mountain skis are made without heel restraints, but what set it apart from the others is that they are made with high quality wood cores. This has given Volkl mountain skis an excellent reputation for lightweight agility, and user-friendliness. For instance, the Volkl Snow Wolf has this lightweight technology, which makes it ideal for skiing in soft snow. The Volkl Snow Wolf also has a Sensor wood light core, which makes it perfect for skiing in a place like the Rocky Mountains.

Yet the Sensor wood light core isn't the only thing that makes Volkl mountain skis innovative. Skiers using the Volkl Snow Wolf skiers are able to utilize Volkl's skin clips system, which makes skiing with Volkl mountain skis easier and even more enjoyable. This is because the skin clips allow skiers to ski uphill. In fact, with Volkl mountain skis and skin slips, effortless skiing seems attainable. It's no surprise that the light-bodied Volkl Snow Wolf has been a leading ski line among Volkl mountain skis for the last two ski seasons.

Innovation in Volkl mountain skis is perpetuated in the form of the Volkl AC-T. This Volkl mountain ski is also made using Sensor wood for its core. The Volkl AC-T also has a special construct called the double grip XT, which is a special laminate of spring steel placed between fiberglass layers for added stability. Ski resort patrons appreciate the Volkl AC-T not only because of this, but also because of its fun design. Like its counterparts, the Volkl AC-T works well on powder snow, making it perfect for telemark skiing.

Another model that performs wonderfully on powdery snow is the Volkl T-Rock. Like other Volkl mountain skis, the Volkl T-Rock contains sensor wood in its core, which makes it lightweight. The Volkl T-Rock is the widest make of the three, which means that it's perfect to handle the conditions in the North American West. The Volkl T-Rock's wideness also gives it a firm grip, which means that skiing is less strenuous. The Volkl T-Rock is highly versatile and can be used in snow conditions that range from powdery to slushy or icy.

These models exemplify that Volkl mountain skis are clearly a high quality line of skis. When it comes to telemark skiing, lightweight skis are a necessity and this is why thousands use Volkl mountain skis when they hit the slopes.
